Focus group with members of the Local Forum at the University of Groningen (RUG)

The University of Groningen conducted its first Up-sTEAm focus group on March 6th, with members of the Dutch local forum coming together to discuss the needs and expectations in their local educational context. A blend of pre-service and in-service educators shared their experiences and thoughts on STEAM themes, the competencies and needs of primary school learners and facilitators of out-of-classroom activities, and the skills that such activities would need to cultivate.

They bounced ideas on learning outcomes, and brainstormed to design activities that would address the local needs and promote inclusive, effective STEAM learning. By the end, the engaging and creative ideas were brought together to paint a picture of what non-formal STEAM education can offer in the local context, followed by a detailed plan for a highly interactive and stimulating hands-on activity that will involve all learners.
